Massive overnight storm

10 June 2020

Woke to a trembling house as lightning lit up the sky. The thunder was as loud as I've ever heard it so the option of sleep was not on the cards.

Just as good a time as any to grab the camera gear and head out on a 2 am photo shoot. A quick check on the radar indicated that a massive storm was lashing the coast and heading north. With any luck, the storm was far enough off the coast to allow me some shelter if I head to the western side of the bay.

Sally jetty seemed a likely option and I was pleased that I could shoot in relative dryness as the lightning and hail crashed into the other side of the bay.

I got a few shots but these were my favourites which were shown the next night on NBN News.
